Adtech start-up Adzymic expands South East Asia presence with Malaysia office via the appointment of Shelly Ng as general manager for Malaysia.
Ng brings with her 15 years of experience in the digital media industry and was previously the regional director at DaVinci Marketing Cloud. In her role, she has worked with industry players such as eBay, Ton Ton, Friendster, MTVasia, Maxis, Nestle and Malaysia Airlines, among others.
According to Ng, Adzymic “deliberately” made the decision to be platform agnostic and it believes in collaboration to drive best results for clients. “I am very excited to be part of Adzymic, the product adds value to today’s complicated and saturated ecosystem. With the volume and speed today’s digital advertising is at, we need technology like Adzymic to fully maximise the potential of what adtech and martech are built to do for business,” Ng added.
In a statement to A+M, co-founder and executive director Travis Teo said the team in Malaysia comprises three individuals and Adzymic plans to grow the team in 2019. To raise brand awareness, Adzymic is working with different partners in the adtech ecosystem to drive adoption, Teo said. Some of its main competitors include Celtra, Sizmek and Criteo.
When asked why Malaysia was chosen for its Southeast Asia expansion, Teo said the digital ad spend in Malaysia has been growing at a “rapid pace”. At the same time, the country also has an added advantage of a business-friendly environment. “Marketers are always looking for new innovation to drive efficiency and effectiveness,” he added.
The adtech start-up is currently in the process of expanding into Indonesia and Vietnam. Some of the brands Adzymic has worked with include Golden Village, National Arts Council, IKEA, DFS and Harvey Norman.
Meanwhile, Adzymic co-founder Kenniess Wong said the Southeast Asia region is a vast region, and each market has its unique opportunities and challenges. “Having based out of Singapore and into the region, we are keen to partner with different agencies and adtech partners to grow the industry. Ng came with many years of experience in the digital advertising space and I’m excited that she is on board to lead our Malaysia business,” Wong said.
