SweetEscape, an on-demand photographer service startup from Indonesia recently announced that it has raised USD1 million in seed funding from East Ventures, Beenext, Skystar Capital, and GDP Venture back in 2017.

The money will be used to expand into new markets beginning with the Philippines. This will be the their first market outside of Indonesia. To enter the new market, the SweetEscape has set up a local team and partnered with local and international brands such as Citibank.

According to SweetEscape Founder and COO, Emile Etienne said the funding will be used to scale its product development.

SweetEscape was launched back in 2016 as an app-based booking platform that enables customers who want professional photos taken of their holidays or any special occasions such as graduation days, birthdays, or corporate events at their choice of destination.

In addition, to being a platform that connects freelance photographers with potential clients, the platform also enables customers to download the edited photos in less than three days via its mobile app or web. It has also secured a partnership with the online printing service Printerous.

SweetEscape claims to have secured over 2,000 photographers in over 100 countries, with “tens of thousands” paying clients around the world.

According to SweetEscape Founder and CEO David Soong, “Our goal is to be a global company. When we first started, we only had Indonesian clients and now, 45 per cent of our clients are international, coming from Asia and US. The need for professional photographers is global.”
